Brutalist Couture
2024, Directed by Jonathan RosadoA personal meditation on the American Neo-Noir genre, shot entirely on Super 8mm film. The film follows Hieronymus Rivera (Jonathan Rosado), a strong force in the New York fashion underground, who is offered the deal of a lifetime by Cecilia Meadows (Jessica Shepherd), a government official who is the head of a new secret program called DAFTCA.
Brutalist Couture has private snuff film undertones and a soundtrack reminiscent of 60s counter-culture filled with psychedelic mind control and deranged acid washed groupies. Rosado was inspired by the 1970’s film Spaces in the Place by Sun-Ra and the classified CIA program MKUltra.
